@Suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com I know that, but why do they run so hot if they use the same glacial NAND as the 128MB stick my dad got me in 2002? Are they hooking up the fastest 5Gb/s controller to that or what?

@salty@zwiebel.social USB 3.0 is more complicated to implement (much higher frequencies) and I wouldn't be surprised if a cheap controllers uses a lot of power (which gets quite hot, as there is no heatsink).
