@fiend_unpleasant Funny you mention web 2, because web 2.0 (as we olds used to call it) was explicitly about re-use and re-mixing.
It started out with snippets you'd publish on one site and include on another. Structured data. RSS is actually very much a web 2.0 technology. REST, while originally relating to HTTP/1.1, is also very much a web 2.0 thing because the RESTful hype that followed it was all about somewhat standardizing interaction patterns between ...

@fiend_unpleasant ... sites. It's just that as web 2.0 spawned a second round of web startups that the meaning of web 2.0 shifted towards VC/startup culture. And those who successfully rode that wave largely abandoned the web 2.0 ethos along the road. Fedi is, in a sense, very much web 2.0 because it is based around those same two principles: better defined interaction patterns between disjoint sites, and structured data snippets to include elsewhere. @jdp23 @stefanie @haubles
