@andrewwillmott @TomF @dysfun My most memorable one was when we boarded a plane, and got an announcement that sorry, the plane is broken, we have to switch to another one.. So everyone shuffles out, boards the secon plane, sat down, waited, and got the announcement from the pilot, in a very annoyed voice: "Ladies and gentlemen, this has never happened before, they gave me another broken plane". They managed to fix whatever was wrong and we were away, but it was still an experience.

  • @sol_hsa @andrewwillmott @TomF @dysfun on a DC-10, took the crew a while to close the door - with a hammer. Flight was uneventful. (Thankfully it was not the cargo door, learned about that flaw years later.)

  • @sol_hsa @TomF @dysfun Mine was a London/San Francisco flight where unfortunately a passenger suffered a heart attack as we approached Canada. We wound up diverting to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CFB_Goose_Bay after dumping a _lot_ of fuel. Due to regulations on how long pilots can fly in one stint, we were told we'd likely be overnighting there, on military camp beds no less. Happily it turned out a couple of other pilots were on board (repositioning), and could take over, so it was a six hour delay in the end.
