Thinking about Klingon religion this evening, as one does, a theological thread with a very nerdy theme.
Klingons have religion but they don't have gods, they *had* gods. Then all the Klingons banded together and fought a glorious war against the gods, which they *won*, and then they killed the gods.
Kahless, who they revere, isn't a god or demigod or anything supernatural. He's just a Klingon who was so fucking badass that his stories sound supernatural. But he's not held up as some unattainable ideal, he's just a Klingon that was so good at being Klingon, that he is held up as the archetype of the race.

What a profoundly different worldview that mythos would impart? Rather then the divine as unattainable separate, the divine is dead because it was weak and we killed it. Rather then we are fallen and need redemption or enlightenment, we have the potential to kill gods. What a chaotic, ungovernable, confident, glorious, mess of a society that would lead to? Klingons can have morals, depending on how much value the individual places on honor versus the acquisition of power. 2/
