I am fortunate that I am able to do this at home at all, but losing the nocturnal temporarily is a setback. Furthermore, because it is a wound causing the acute problem, I have had to come off the blood thinners that my extracorporeal hemodialysis circuit usually uses. ... dialysis you have to conduct a bolus saline flush to ensure that the circuit does not clot. This not only adds fluid back into me, which we are trying to take out, but means the session is highly disrupted. Even reading is difficult, although I would prefer to sleep! Three-hour dialysis sessions are also far more taxing on the body, because you are trying to do the work of days' worth of kidney function in a very compact period of time.
