@RustedComputing The calculation is somewhat more complex than a direct comparison of input costs. For my climate I wish hydrogen fuel cell vehicles were more available, but battery tech is moving at a sufficient pace where a BEV will soon be a viable choice. Meanwhile, we seek to minimize vehicle use and are averaging <1,000 km/month. For a rural area, that's not bad.

@alan Yes that's amazingly low rural mileage. Less than 1Mm/month makes it hard to pencil out in the immediate term. I would say twice that is closer to the no-brainer-do-it-right-now line.
