@dtl I don't think so. It does get pretty bright, but turning up the brightness just washes out the image. I might do some basic reverse engineering to see if I can just drive the control grid a little harder maybe to push it deeper into cutoff for the black parts of the image

@slyka @dtl mine cuts off fine in the blacks but I think the lightness of the phosphor makes ambient light a problem. maybe a little smoked acrylic over the top, in the traditional way?
