@AlanSill fuse is enough of a non-issue that I ship it by default. It ends up required nearly all the time anyway. (e.g. Lustre.)
Note that if there are any security concerns around S3/IPFS/etc., those should generally be addressed at the network level, not the host/cluster. (Which obviously may mean small stuff like restricting users to specific hosts.)

@rootwyrm Yes, it seems that most of the problems have to do with the dependencies of CASA and its many versions versus time. Various efforts have been made to put it into containers and/or LMod modules, but these are individual efforts by people and centers, and not part of the official distribution. What a pain for innocent cluster operators!
