Here's a weird thing that happens in my neighborhood (many weird things happen in my neighborhood, this is one of the more benign): Every now and then someone leaves a box of fresh produce on the sidewalk. I don't mean from a garden. It's in the same types of box grocery stores receive it in, sometimes packaged individual. I came across a box of lettuce most recently. A couple dozen heads of lettuce, bagged and still cool, as though fresh off a reefer truck.

And, I don't mean it's at the same spot on the same sidewalk. It happens at random drop points through the neighborhood, I think I've seen repeats a few times, but not with any regularity. Not in obvious places, like a high traffic corner or by a church, either. Pretty random placement, pretty broad distribution.
