@Kimberley Lichfield used to have some good ones but I haven't been there for about five years. Most of them were along Market Street from by old market square and Samuel Johnson's house (which is well signposted).
A few are expensive (there is an Oxfam bookshop which is great but not for bargain hunters) but when I last went there were still a few bargains to be had.
All the old market towns and small cities in the midlands used to be good though.

@naturepunk I have heard elsewhere that Lichfield and Shrewsbury still have good charity shops so market towns in the Midlands could be a good call. Thanks!
