#deltachat user profiles are private and invisible to the public. No one can discover you, or your children, via phone numbers or any other public handle. Chat profiles exist only on user devices. No PIN and no "SMS verification code" ever asked or needed. The lack of "public discovery" also means you don't auto-discover others via phone numbers or other public handles. Getting in contact with others is "opt in": you scan a QR code or click an invite link to join a group or open a chat.

@delta And, Delta Chat works flawlessly via the TOR network and can be installed as a Persistent Application on TAILS OS. This is NOT POSSIBLE with telephony based messaging.

@delta The lack of any app-level or profile-level password does mean that the OS-level security is what you get in ways of blocking other's access to your DC profiles. Is that by design? Are there plans to address this? Love the app

@delta have you ever tough, of "hashing phone number" and store them (the hash) "without" link to the actual profile. so you can say "this person have an account"' but nothing more ? that would allow the user to know wich of their contact use delta, and use other mean to ask the said other user his link ? this would also protect you as you cannot give nor the number to anyone, and even if a magic "dehashin" happen you can only say "they are user" that it nothing more nothing less.
