so I've got a little more information now. It's not an unequivocally happy ending, because of course it isn't; Stolas has lost his status and all of his assets to some jealous relative, who was part of setting up the trial in the first place; his daughter is mad at him for choosing Blitzø over her; and his new imp neighbors hate him for manipulating Blitzø into this situation.
BUT I don't think that undermines my Love Wins analysis:

Stolas is an emotionally stunted aristocrat who has no real skills beyond social manipulation. Blitzø is an utter asshole who takes out his lack of self-worth on everyone around him. But the trial sequence is the climax of a multi-episode arc of them (separately) realizing they need to work on themselves and actually doing it. So when they start literally and metaphorically singing in harmony, you're still cheering for them.
