@Cognessence@social.linux.pizza @Lime@post.lurk.org I had never heard of hyperacusis before reading this. I have perhaps a mild form of it which manifests itself not as pain, but nerve/ear-drum irritation? It's as if the sound is tickling my eardrum.
Interesting. I'm going to explore this. Do you use any therapies or does making music work? (I just try to ignore it when it occurs.)

If it feels like nerve / ear-drum irritation, the cause is probably something other than damage from loud sound (could be wrong of course!) I have actually made sounds for the tinnitus that helped me (although the tinnitus has changed since) and seemed to offer relief to others too, but other than slowly acclimatising to noise again I'm not sure there's much for H to offer relief in the moment. 🙏 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIkrN13NH7g&t=369s
