Are web analytics dead? Yesterday I published a blog post that received 1,000 views within several hours. While it would be great to think that my blog posts are that popular, in fact 80–90% of the views are from bots.
Independent Analytics uses Matomo's device-detector to filter out bots, but it seems that it can no longer keep up with #AI bots.
For some time, I've evaluated the success of articles based on the real human interaction they were able to spark, I suppose this is all we have left now.

@sesivany@social.vivaldi.net I use Plausible and only record link clicks. If the users don't load JS and don't interact with the post its probably a bot (or just a human uninterested in the post)

@sesivany@social.vivaldi.net only 1,000? I just lunched my personal blog with new domain on completely new VM in cloud and get around 2-3k views an each post. And it's so annoying I have no words to describe!

@sesivany@social.vivaldi.net I run GoAccess once in a while but do nothing with results it shows. About 1/3 of visits to my blog is listed as crawlers. Another 1/3 as unknown.
