@hypolite You can use your own mailbox on a non-chatmail server if you want. If you are sure it works reliably all the time, you also don't need multiple mailboxes. You can also add chatmail mailboxes next to non-chatmail ones if you want to have things working when your server is down but chatmail relay you added works.

@hypolite @delta Deltachat isn't a mail client, it's a messenger that uses email protocol. You wouldn't configure jitsi, that uses xmpp, with your personal account. If you use your existing email address in DC you'll have weirdness in DC and weirdness in your other mail clients. If you don't want to use third-parties you don't know you can create an address at a provider you trust. Many work fine: https://providers.delta.chat/ . You will probably be limited by quotas though. In summary the only thing that changed is advices on how to minimize problems: before there was no advice, now there are advices
