@greene I had to look up exactly what this freebirth is that I keep hearing about, and bloody hell, these people are absolute maniacs. It's one thing not to want birth over-medicalised (though personally I'd want an obstetrician like 2 minutes away if they're needed.) But there's a reason midwife is one of the oldest jobs in world. Giving birth is uniquely dangerous for humans compared to other animals. Why make it riskier? Absolute lunatics getting women and babies killed.

@beecycling @greene I think there need to be some birth centers with pleasant midwives (practiced, licensed), place for family members to gather and all the woo-woo, meditations, candles, music, whatnots with actual doctors not visible but on duty in case stuff goes sideways. There's a reason women don't like giving birth in hospitals, far as I can tell the whole thing is highly traumatizing for everybody involved, doctors are often downright sadistic, dismissive and care is professional but kept to the bare minimum, that at a point in a woman's life where she's probably the most scared she ever was and will be. That's why shit like this can proliferate, the comfort it gives outweighs the possible complications.
