Boosts OK! Muslim people of fedi, I have a question for you: Is it okay for an atheist (me) to sometimes use the term "inshallah" when I want to express that I hope something good happens and universe's force leads to that good thing happening, even if I don't believe in the existence of any god, let alone Allah? It just seems so convenient to use. Tags: #AskaMuslim #AskMuslims #Islam #Muslim #Muslims #AskFedi #boost

@edendestroyer@solarpunk.moe only slightly related but a possible alternative: in Spanish you say ojalá to express the wish that something should come about. It is, of course, related to the Arabic inshallah because parts of Spain were part of a Caliphate in the Middle Ages.

  • @edendestroyer@solarpunk.moe I've used it with Muslims when I'm trying to be nice and I've also used it with racists when I'm not. The first lot have never called me out on using it and I think appreciate it. Remember under Islam that every one is born to believe in one god whether they're a practicing muslim or not.
