I got out to the eclectic, queer-owned, plant store today. I described the bird feeder (previous toot) and my idea of growing a cascading plant inside it. We talked a bit about light and temps, and then I was helpfully pointed at a couple different shelves of plants. What will really stand up to the light and warmest temps of my south-facing windows were the selection of Hoyas. They need to cascade and have no problem being blasted with heat. This 2" Hoya is a 'hoya linearis' and it's got a more peculiar look compared to many hoya which have conventional leaves. At this size, I should be able to plant this into the bird feeder and get it to grow out both sides. I have to work out how I am lining the bird feeder so that moisture doesn't rot through the wood. The baby hoya will have some time to get a little bit larger before I transplant it. #Plants #Gardening
