@rygorous for me it's kind of a fine line when something becomes part of the. landscape instead of trash. like, jars and cans from a 1950s mining camp, not good, but a cowboy signature from 1888 that's fucking cool

@regehr every once in a while you have a church in the middle of absolutely nowhere just next to a field or whatever and wonder "how did this happen?" It usually means that there used to be a village here where said church was the one stone building, then the Black Death happened, and, well.. no more village after that

@regehr case in point, this is the Porta Nigra in Trier (~180AD) alongside a bunch of buildings that, while not new, are maybe 150 years old by their looks?
