@oxyhyxo I must admit it puzzles me that out-of-box Ubuntu installs don't include basic diagnostic tools like the (sadly, slightly imaginary as there is no RFC) traceroute, and rdisc6/ndisc6 is also in a separate package. I think I even had to manually install tcpdump, come to think of it, I don't immediately reach for Wireshark despite hosting one of FreeBSD's dependencies for it over my sabbatical (libsmi).

@bms48 Oh this goes way back before Ubuntu even existed. This was all done with Slackware and manually compiling the bits I needed
