@Heterokromia The article has been updated. I'm guessing the wrong units were used. "Early government forecasts compiled from self-reported industry data have suggested up to 50 million solar panels may become waste by 2035, equating to around 1 million tonnes of waste."

    @MrAndrewD Yes, it has been 'corrected' in that the most egregious fantasy maths has been removed. Still uncorrected is the absence of context. An edit of the 'story' would yield: We throw away megatonnes of stuff. Solar panels are, and will be, a teeny-weeny part of that waste. The ABC apologises for previously publishing a beat-up that misrepresented this fact. It was meaningless drivel, propaganda, or both. We are disciplining the staff involved, and have removed their access to press releases and AI.
