Honestly, I think my view on the LLM industry can be vastly over simplified to “Pascal’s Mugging executed at a scale never seen before”.

People fall for Pascal’s Mugging all the time, it’s just the current ubiquitous nature of the tech industry and the complete detachment of modern markets from reality provide the perfect environment for such a global mind fuck. Unfortunately, the current response to a Pascal’s Mugging is “Fuck Off”, and that’s not really possible while the great and the good are engineering society to be totally dependent.
