@tante @posiputt in my experience XMPP is not very mobile-friendly (requires persistent connections). It's been a while since I last looked at things tho (2019-ish)

@dngrs@chaos.social @tante@tldr.nettime.org @posiputt@mastodon.art generally xmpp is well-optimized so it's not a problem that it requires a persistent connection it uses xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0352.html to make the connection quieter and xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0198.html for reconnections
