And it's not just "training" in the sense of building fitness, that you then lose, once you no longer keep up with the training.
Some development is more or less "permanent", or at least very long lasting.
Some things are learned and developed once and even if you "decline", you can reach certain states easier and quicker again.
Even the "mindset" of being able to improve and having the foresight of "I can do it in a week" instead of "I can not do it (now)" is an example.

For me this is one of the biggest sources of frustration when dealing with others. People who are privileged are often in the position of not having to improve. The privilege to not have to put in a little bit of effort now to save effort and be able to do more in the future. Sometimes also to put in a little bit to save someone else a lot of effort. After all, you can disproportionally expect more effort and more discomfort from less privileged people, to save your own ease and comfort. 8/
