Re the Bluesky DDos attack: got me wondering how common (and I know it IS common) it is for businesses say they are thing X, have all the equipment to really be thing X, but then not implement any of that due to management saying it would be too costly to NOW switch to being thing X when they've been doing fine so far and none of the customers/clients have complained (enough)
Like, say, use green energy, or ethical business practices

@Mimesatwork Applies to nations as well. Like you can say whatever, that we're a democracy and we care about this and that, while hollowing out the very institutions that make those things possible. I feel it has to be either one: A. They really are THAT manipulative and believe it's enough if it seems like you care. That no-one _really_ has any values, everything is just cynical theater. B. They have a nigh-mythical belief in their brand and don't think any action or inaction could tarnish it.
