Our dog is very smart, but she struggles a bit with spatial reasoning. She knows that the stairs can take her to many different places: upstairs, downstairs, and basement. However she much prefers the stairs that go up to the second floor, which are wide and straight, to the basement stairs, which are narrow and twisty. To the point that she will watch my wife go down the basement stairs, and then run up the main stairs to meet her.
Why don’t the good stairs just always go where she wants them to‽

@josh0 Our parrot does this with food bowls (one on the side of the cage for seeds, and one near the bottom for messier stuff like fruit). He'll always check the upper one first even if he sees us put something in the other, then he'll climb down. Maybe he thinks it's like Portal.
