@jwilker@wandering.shop There is the optional "plus" service that is an upsell. I currently have it, mostly for the backup internet connection feature, but I've run without it for years. I don't get any marketing push notifications or intrusive banners in the app, etc., so I'd say no, not bad. It's got some nice features, like temporary 2.4hz mode (to use connecting home devices that don't support, other bands), easy device management. Definitely the most "apple-like” plug-and-play experience.
