"Mister God, This Is Anna" might just be the strangest book I know.
For one thing, I've read it at least once a year since I first found a copy in my school library when I was fifteen or sixteen.
It was the first book I deliberately bought in English, by the way, since I tried reading the German translation once, and I find written German dialects to be atrocious. A horrible crime against every single letter in the alphabet.

Every time I read the book, it makes me laugh and cry in all the same places, and I hope it always will. I don't think I'd still feel human if I ever became immune to those scenes. Weirdly enough, it's also one of the few "religious" books I don't mind, and yes, those quotation marks are there for a reason. Don't let your own opinions on religion stop you from reading that book - I almost did, and it would have been a mistake. This is not, strictly speaking, a Christian god, but a personal one.
