Before I plunked down for an EV a number of years ago, I went on a bit of a road trip to see how far 100km actually was. It was a lot further than I thought it was! I used to point this out when people asked about "range anxiety".
I also find a lot of people don't easily grasp the idea of "destination charging". That is, charge where you are visiting for another reason. The charging spots at supermarkets and super-centres are a step in this direction, but are a mere drop in the bucket of what's needed. There needs to be a hundred, a thousand times more of these charge spots in many, many different places until it becomes unusual when a suburban shipping strip *doesn't* have any. (And don't get me started on how they all require an account to be setup...)

@static Yep, agreed. For a lot (not all) destination charging the infrastructure exists -- otherwise we wouldn't have power -- but it's how you make it accessible and fairly usable that's a little tougher. UK went down an interesting route with this; any fast charger (not destination) must by law allow for tap-and-go payments. This does work, though the trap there is that many charge more (money) if you use a tap-and-go solution.
