I've come to terms with the fact that now that I actually own a printer, despite the type I get called on to actually print normal, day-to-day things, so I put in the effort to turn my raspberry pi into a CUPS server to re-share share the ImageWriter to my modern machines so I can print out PDFs without manually converting them to PNGs and booting up the G4 every time It's very weird to see an ImageWriter show up in iOS Thanks to @paulrickards for the guide in your blog! #VintageApple

Why does printing suck still… spent like 2 hours fighting CUPS trying to understand how page sizes/margins work If I have the margins in the PPD, it always adds on a left margin and pushes the right hand off the page. If I set the page size to the printable area, the left side is right, but the right side cuts off before the printable area ends??? If it set the page size to printable area+1cm, I can print the whole width, but now I have a no-go zone on the right Still dunno what's going on.

  • @kalleboo Excellent. It really makes the ImageWriter II so much more accessible with modern stuff. Enjoy! Edit: Here's the link to the blog entry: https://biosrhythm.com/?p=2791

@kalleboo Awesome! I need to get around to doing that with my original ImageWriter. Is that a custom case for the Pi? It looks like a perfect late-‘80s/early-‘90s tech device (like the old external Jet Direct boxes.)

@kalleboo @paulrickards I got lucky, when I set up cups with my old Samsung ml1750 it just worked. I fire the pc up ever few months when I gotta print and it just does it with zero interaction, surprisingly easy to live with. In my case at anyway
