my hot take on why software design is so shit these days is because ui designers realised we peaked in 2018 with the Windows 10 Calculator app being the best looking piece of software ever made and have consequently given up trying to ever top it

look at how they massacred my boy. the buttons. lifeless & boring. rounded. like a fisher price toy. the background blurs the _wallpaper_ no matter whats actually behind it. the only good thing i can say is i like the accented equals button (which in windows 10 was actually only when hovered, and visible in the OP via editing the image)
