@gnomon I've used Nikwax wash-in waterproofing (TechWash & TX-Direct) on my cordura riding gear. I felt like it improved water shedding, so that sitting water didn't just weep through. It was less effective at something more structural like a leaky/worn seam, iirc.

@bryan thank you very much, I'll check that out! I feel like if seams become problematic I can probably tape them? At the moment I'm thinking more about just persuading heavy rain to run off the bag flap. (It's a messenger bag, so I expect there will be a decent amount of friction and wear between the rear of the bucket and my back, anyhow.)
