@WhiteCatTamer @johnefrancis @kelidanovus a EV uses about 1 kwh per 3 miles. An average cyclist generates about 100W. Ignoring efficiency loss (~50%) that's 10 hours of pedaling to charge an EV to drive 3 miles. So no, it's not practical to charge a car with a bicycle generator. Instead, 100W on a bicycle at 15 mph for 10 hours can take you 150 miles (in my experience, more like 100 mi due to stops). 150/3 is at least 50 times more efficient.

    @trouble @WhiteCatTamer @kelidanovus that could be sufficient to charge the EV just enough to drive it to the nearest charger. 5+ hours of pedalling is a lot of suffering though, even for enthusiastic cyclists. But it could work for suffering enthusiasts.
