It boggles my mind, in 1968, audiences loved the 90 minute move that starts 50 minutes into 2001: A Space Odyssey (The Jupiter Mission). I mean, this is a LONG movie with most of the first 50 minutes serving as a Disney-esque Epcot Center vision of corporate innovation in the year 2001. (Bell Videophones, Howard Johnson’s on the moon, TWA Spaceflights, etc.)
I love all of it. I’m just impressed it’s so long and dense and people really enjoyed that in a theater back then.
