@yforster@types.pl the primary debate itself aside, i just like, really dislike the tone of how these decisions are communicated, like it's worded as if we are undergrads who are trying to get out of doing work so it has to be no buts no exceptions.

@yforster@types.pl I don't have any skin in this game, but I loathe giving remote talks. If I can just get my paper published, I'm happy to neither show up in person (paying $100000000000000 for the hotel and flights) nor give an online talk that is 100% going to have frustrating A/V issues.

@yforster@types.pl Similar development over here in the HCI community, e.g., with PACMHCI papers published at the CSCW or MobileHCI conferences. A pity that we seem to have just given up on remote formats altogether. But it's good they don't force you to come like some other conferences (DIS, NordiCHI).
