@smlavine When thinking of such metaphors: what do you call surfaces which are on the top or the bottom of the screen? I've always seen them referred to as "top" and "bottom".

@whynothugo True. I guess if referring to window placement on that axis, I'd think of the window as being "on *the* top" or "at the top of the screen" or "on the bottom". ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
