@whynothugo True. I guess if referring to window placement on that axis, I'd think of the window as being "on *the* top" or "at the top of the screen" or "on the bottom". ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@smlavine We also have some asymmetry in that some windows are in the background or behind others, but we then call the ones in front "on top"? I don't know where the expression comes from, but its ambiguity bothers me greatly.
