@oddhack I guess it makes me old that I'm not used to that... ghhhgg. [still remembers when "quotes" meant "this phrase exactly", a +plus meant "must contain this word or phrase", and a -minus meant "must not contain this word or phrase]

@woozle I'd love to have regexp search in browsers, but at this point I'd settle for just a case-sensitive search option. El sigh.

  • @woozle @oddhack I remember when it was enough to just “-[site.address]” to get rid of results from sites you had no interest in clogging up your search, but now with LLM output masquerading as real stuff, it’s just filled to the brim with bullshit. I hate being the kinda person who runs to social media to find out previously-easily googleable stuff because I’m no longer sure of sites that I haven’t used before and/or have not recently been endorsed by a human.

@woozle That syntax generally still works on DuckDuckGo and Google. I use site:example.com quite a bit too. https://duckduckgo.com/duckduckgo-help-pages/results/syntax https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/2466433?hl=en
