@cy
I have suffered a lot of emotional trauma in my life. There were no silver linings, but some of the consequences of those events have been… not bad. None of those consequences in any way make up for the trauma, the loss etc. Not having to “bother “caring” for elderly parents in no way makes up for all of the times when they weren’t around, the things they missed out on, the things that my children & I missed out on.
I felt guilty seeing my friend deal with her elderly parents, and the toll that took on her, when I’d never had to do that. It felt strange, because there had been so many times in the past when I had felt envious.

@cy I’ve also lived in poverty. Not severe, nowhere near as bad as many others have experienced, but not something I would recommend. But have there been some good outcomes? Did my children learn some good lessons?
