Yeah the soils must not be naked because of many reasons
Me after weeding the garden,I cover them to soil to prevent the soil from losing water during transpiration
The fact that this weeds act as fertilizer when then compose and forms manure
What other methods do you commonly used to your garden and after you weeding ,why do you only cut roots and you apply to your garden

@Timothyswallehz Usually I do not weed. Only in the beds when planting I tear out what was growing there. And in order that it won't regrow I cut the roots. When I became 70years I gave up composting - too heavy for my back. So I put all plant material into the green waste bin. Every 2 weeks this is brought to a biogas plant, afterwards they make certified compost from the rest. The compost can be bought cheap. Whereas a bag compost commercially costs about 10€, there I get 3 bags for 4€.
