@KatyElphinstone 5/ The point I am trying to get to is we all experience stress and many of us are traumatised at some time, and we all mask aspects of our behaviour as a result in order to fit in. Masking is not just behaviour that relates to autism, and autism is not a psychiatric disorder, but a brain that functions a bit differently. We should celebrate our differences, not stigmatise them, because everyone's thoughts are valid, even when they seem blunt to some.

    @KatyElphinstone 6/ It can be difficult for teachers to provide support for autistic children because they're under time pressure, particularly with cuts to SEND. They can end up firefighting problems and not have time to devote to help the child who is not acting up. We have a friend with an autistic son who manages to cope with school, but has an emotional outburst when he gets home. He cannot cope with sudden changes that he has not been prepared for and she cannot understand why they do this
