1/. Your work is definitely worth it. As someone who has tried to reach out to family and friends who have gone through the process of discovering, and in some cases being diagnosed, that they are autistic, it can be a long process of talking, listening, and trying to understand how they think and feel, and why the people they interact with are difficult to understand. That is why I need help to see the world from an autistic viewpoint, because it is complicated....

@KatyElphinstone 2/. ...because we are not neurotypical on this side of a fence, and neurodivergent on that side, we are individuals with male/female mental and emotional differences, on top of which is an array of experience, convictions, obsessions etc. Add to that, that by the time someone begins to think they might be autistic, they have faced so much self doubt in their ability to communicate and be understood, that they find it difficult to open up for fear of ability to explain.
