Except that those models were (illegally? but surely unethically) trained on GPL code (and other open source licenses), while surely minimal to no proprietary code was used, and companies and corporations still holding the (C) on proprietary code can sue you to oblivion.

@mdione yes, but that has little relevance to their ability to rewrite either GPL or proprietary software.
