untrue. he spread and normalized hate speech and misinformation. he damaged lives with his platform and negligence. I would even go as far to say his anti-vaccine rhetoric killed at least one person, probably more.
he labeled black Americans as a hate group which I'm certain normalized the racism in certain groups and only served to take away more opportunities away from POC.
he also questioned the amount of deaths during the Holocaust, attempting to minimize the impact of the deaths.
dude was more than a piece of shit. now he's a slowly rotting corpse.

Agreed. That's why I put "scare quotes" around the word "do" to imply that he actually did do something. I wasn't defending them I was responding specifically to the [comment](https://lemmy.ca/comment/21100926) above. > Even the couple of links here don't shed any light on the details of 'why'.
