I know he's just trying to look out for me as a fellow person in software because he went through similar transformations in the industry, but it's obviously still frustrating and a bit sad to even have to consider the need for this kind of conversation. He's never spoken highly of being a deep-in-the-weeds coder for a living (he did that but moved on to more management oriented roles), so it makes sense that he's pushing me to think about these things, I guess.

"You'll find yourself falling behind." Not a lot of people realize how much of my non-working life I devote to keeping up. It's almost a sickness but it's what I like to do. I'm proud to be known by a few of my peers as someone who finds a way to have an Approximate Knowledge of Everything. The 23177 projects I have starred on GitHub should classify me as a bot. As much as I hate to admit it, that's all been me and my truest self. If I fall behind, it'll be because I'm dead 😤
