OK another question for the FOSS nerds. What search engine is tolerable at the moment? Privacy a concern, AI an absolute dealbreaker. Actually useful results mandatory. Custom and boolean searching a plus. Image search would be a banger. I swear I saw a post and bookmarked it with something that sounded promising and alas my I opened my bookmarks and a little moth flew out. Feel free to boost!

@evelynf@counterforce.social FWIW, I use the no ai version of DuckDuckGo on my laptop and desktop, but it’s not an option for Apple devices, unless you want to manually type In noai.duckduckgo.com for every search. Can’t say how Android browsers work.

@evelynf@counterforce.social I use startpage as the only one I've found with no AI (not even optoutable).

@evelynf@counterforce.social I'm pretty sure the advanced search syntax in startpage doesn't even really work (or I'm doing it wrong?) so I have no clue, I just stuck with startpage because I'm too lazy to migrate and it works good enough

@evelynf@counterforce.social if you want it to work, https://noai.duckduckgo.com isn't that bad. If you want freedom, you could try SearXNG : find one that works next to you and eventually install it on your own server if you can. https://searx.space
