The nursery I work at held its annual "open house" day today (20% off everything) and it was slammed busy, which is great because overall sales are down from pandemic levels. It's always interesting to see the generational difference as to who goes for what types of plants. Seniors love their boxwood hedges and "green meatballs" while millennials tend to be way more interested in color and different growth habits (weeping, narrow/upright, variegated, etc.)
Interest in invasives like barberry, Burning Bush, Miscanthus, etc. continues to decline thankfully. Our best sellers have been Itea virginica (Sweetspire), Clethra alnifolia (Sweetpepper bush), and winterberry holly. #plants
