If your solution to bad age verification is "better" age verification, you are part of the problem. Reject surveillance. Age verification is a tool and a goal of fascists.

  • @funnymonkey Just think, we now konw that the company that's been doing school yearbook photos since before I was even born is owned by a pedophile (source: epstein emails) but the "real problem" is that people are allowed to look at porn without uploading a scan of their loicense. actually now that i think of it this won't even stop pedos from sending kids porn unless they're outing themselves by tagging the pics as NSFW and uploading to a third-party platform.

@funnymonkey@freeradical.zone I won't lie - I'm concerned that I might have to compile my own kernel like old school people did with BSD.

  • @funnymonkey If you need age verification "to keep children safe" when joining online services, maybe what you actually need is to regulate the online services instead of putting the burden on the victims.

@funnymonkey I saw a suggestion that the solution is *worse* age verification. Just filled with bypasses and loopholes.

@funnymonkey I asked our federal Comms minister to make verification blockchain codes available at post office counters. Tracking that would be fruitless. And, small tech business could merely email the list of blockchain codes, as another suggestion. Am I doing it wrong?

@funnymonkey If the grubbyment has consulted effectively they know very well that it's not going to work and will only succeed in breaching our PII and forms of ID. This will result in new forms of ID being needed, of course they are not going to go with secure and privacy protecting methods, they will enforce a "digital ID" which will be a privacy nightmare. With every other form of ID useless it will be essential.
