When keyboards were made for people who typed for a living, the lettering on the keys was structural, like the words in a Brighton Rock. I suppose that era has passed.

@robpike@hachyderm.io I thought I was scratching it too much with my nails. In my previous AMK, the shift key disintegrated completely, probably due to me playing Zen Pinball too much…

@robpike@hachyderm.io though I use a Mac as my main workstation, I don't bother with Apple keyboards. Craig Silverstein got me into Kinesis keyboards, which were great for RSI and are significantly higher quality than anything made by Apple in many years (if not ever).

@robpike@hachyderm.io I have a black edition Das Keyboard, so absolutely no keycap letters even from brand new. Nothing quite like that to make an honest touch typist!
