right now, USA-based companies like OpenAI have used their capital to pre-order so much hardware (processors, GPUs etc.) that they exhausted the offerings of producers. we, consumers, can't buy the same kinds of hardware pieces that OpenAI pre-ordered because everything that will be produced in 2026 has already been bought by them.
not to mention that data degrades because of hard-disk corruption and transmission errors. data isn't eternal, nor can it be replicated infinitely.

the second issue i have with the zine: an approximate engagement with legislative politics. the zine starts by falsely saying that the #DSA mandates age verification. it doesn't. it mandates that Very Large Online Platforms identify systemic risks to minors and take action to attenuate these risks. age verification is proposed as a means to keep minors "safe", but it's not part of the Regulation and it's highly criticized for being an actual risk itself: https://edri.org/our-work/policy-paper-age-verification-cant-childproof-the-internet/ (4/12)
